Volunteer Services Coordinator

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to help engage and inspire the community in support of our mission. Through the recruitment, training, scheduling, and recognition of volunteers, this position plays a vital role in ensuring families staying at our Ronald McDonald House and visiting our Ronald McDonald Family Room receive exceptional care and support. Each year, our volunteers contribute thousands of hours that help create a welcoming environment where families can focus on what matters most—the health and well-being of their child.
Volunteer CoordinatorThe Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the volunteer program, as well as coordinating and supporting volunteer staff at both the House and Family Room. This position coordinates volunteer staffing to ensure Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida has the necessary resources and community goodwill to support the mission, goals, and objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors. The Volunteer Services Coordinator represents the Charity in a positive manner in the community and actively recruits volunteers committed to the mission.
Reports To: Director of Programs
Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of two years’ non-profit work experience.
Schedule and Status: Full-Time with some night and weekend, non-exempt
Essential Functions
Volunteer Program Management
• Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the volunteer program for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida.
• Recruit, screen, onboard, train, schedule, and retain volunteers to support House and Family Room operations.
• Conduct engaging volunteer orientations and provide ongoing training and support.
• Maintain open communication with volunteers, addressing concerns and ensuring a positive volunteer experience.
• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and reporting using the volunteer management database.
• Ensure adequate volunteer staffing for front desk operations, House support, Family Room, and special projects.
• Coordinate group engagement opportunities to support House and Family Room needs.
• Maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with all departments to ensure effective collaboration and support of organizational goals.
• Develop and coordinate volunteer-led programs and activities that enhance the guest experience and provide comfort, support, and engagement for families staying at the House.
Family Room and Hospital Partnerships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital partners and staff to support Family Room volunteer operations.
• Coordinate volunteer onboarding and placement within the Family Room.
• Serve as a liaison between RMHC and hospital volunteer leadership.
Community Engagement and Outreach
• Represent RMHC at volunteer fairs, schools, churches, civic organizations, and community events.
• Cultivate relationships with educational institutions, service organizations, businesses, and community groups to increase volunteer engagement.
• Promote RMHC volunteer opportunities throughout the community.
• Assist with the development and stewardship of community partnerships that support RMHC programs and services.
Group Volunteer and Event Coordination
• Coordinate volunteer participation for special events in collaboration with the Development team.
• Manage volunteer groups and service projects at the House and Family Room.
• Work closely with Operations and Programs staff to ensure volunteer projects align with organizational needs.
• Organize volunteer appreciation and recognition activities.
In-Kind Donations and Community Support
• Assist in securing and coordinating in-kind donations that support House operations and family needs.
• Maintain relationships with in-kind donors and community partners.
• Coordinate donation drives and community service projects that benefit RMHC families.
House Support and Program Coordination
• Regularly assess House and Family Room needs and communicate maintenance, housekeeping, and operational concerns to appropriate staff.
• Manage the Pop Tab Program and support related community engagement efforts.
• Coordinate and support the Life Skills Program and other volunteer-led initiatives.
• Assist with in-house events, family activities, and donor recognition opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Meal Coordinator to recruit, schedule, and support individual volunteers and community groups providing meals and hospitality services for families staying at the House.
Other Responsibilities
• Support the mission, values, and strategic goals of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida.
• Participate in staff meetings, organizational events, and other duties as assigned.
