Volunteer Services Coordinator

Pensacola, FL

The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the volunteer program and coordinating and managing volunteer staff at the House and Family Room.  This position coordinates volunteer staffing to ensure Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida has the necessary resources and community goodwill to support the mission, goals, and objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors.  The Volunteer Services Coordinator should represent the Charity in a positive manner in the community and continue to recruit volunteers committed to the mission.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the charity through development and daily management of the volunteer program.
  • Develops and maintains hospital relationships to assist with the volunteer onboarding at the Family Room.
  • Manages and staffs the front desk with volunteers to ensure donors, families, and volunteers are welcomed.
  • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards volunteers.
  • Staffs, coordinates and facilitates the in-house volunteer program and the family meal program.
  • Works closely with the Operations team to walk the grounds and facility to identify any maintenance or housekeeping issues.
  • Staffs, coordinates and facilitates the volunteers needed for special events in collaboration with the Development team.
  • Assists the Development team with sponsorships and in-kind donations.
  • Develops and implements effective recruitment/retention strategies.
  • Secures in-kind donations based on family and House needs.
  • Builds and maintains community relationships with educational and service organizations.
  • Works in collaboration with the Programs team to maintain and recruit community partners.
  • Conducts engaging volunteer orientation.
  • Identifies and participates in opportunities to speak about the RMHC mission including volunteer fairs, church project fairs, schools, and civic group presentations.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records in the volunteer database and reports data to the Director of Programs.
  • Works closely with the Operations team to coordinate large groups.
  • Manages the pop tab program.
  • Organizes and coordinates in-House events, including in-kind donor recognition.
  • Maintains supportive and open communication to ensure volunteer needs are met or handle any issues.
  • Trains volunteers in their positions and provides continuous training for the front desk volunteers.
  • Responsible for kitchen inventory and ordering groceries.
  • Manages the Life Skills Program.
